Building a Tool Kit for Medical and Dental Students: Addressing Microaggressions and Discrimination on the Wards

Date of Review: September, 2020

This workshop, from MedEdPORTAL, creates an oppty for medical and dental students to understand and respond to microaggressions. It is one of the few curricula that is specifically devoted to microaggressions. Strengths of this workshop: it uses multiple modalities to keep the learners engaged, like cases, using student responses, self-reflection and role play. The authors attempt to create psychological safety by creating small groups. This would be relatively easy to implement in any year of medical school and to residents also. –Sara Tariqi, MD, NCEAS
