Perinatal Depression Curriculum

This curriculum aims to teach learners about perinatal depression from knowledge to application and consists of case-based modules for all clinicians/clinical learners to provide culturally sensitive care for patients. The material also includes instruction in identifying and implementing steps to build referral relationships with community resources, and coordinate services and referrals for patients. Detailed case scenarios and facilitator guides are included and could be easily adapted for use in the clinical space. This resource is provided by the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics). These cases explain the importance of understanding the epidemiology and risk factors/preventive measures of perinatal depression, including using a trauma informed care approach. Facilitators have a lot of support in this material but some expertise in pediatrics or mental health would make it easier.
