Teaching Residents Population Health Management
Date of Review: June, 2020
This publication is a guide to developing a population health management program, which elucidates the key requirements and details the necessary components, with accompanying institutional examples form the participants of the meeting. this project, sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges, is a comprehensive resource for creating such a system and, while parts of the resource do not address social determinants of health, it incorporates an understanding of health disparities and equity as well as screening and addressing social determinants of health. It is geared towards faculty whose role it is to lead primary care ambulatory educational experiences for residents in primary care: internal medicine, pediatrics and family medicine. The resource is excellent but it is not meant as a resource for a short course or workshop although a leader could choose to incorporate only part of the model described. — Barb Bayldon, MD, NCEAS
