Diversity-Related, Student-Led National Medical Organizations: Leadership Opportunities for Learners
Date of Review: April, 2026
This resource provides a well thought out workshop that exposes medical trainees to different national medical organizations and how they can utilize them to develop leadership skills that lead to increased diversity in academic medicine. The idea is to have these workshops in locations where diversity isn’t as robust, and therefore the reach of the national organizations may not be as prominent. These organizations seek to provide support to trainees as they enter the healthcare workforce, and further develop into leaders to continue advocating for underserved populations. This resource is a wonderful option to ultimately advocate for health equity in medicine. –Bako Orionzi, MD, NCEAS
