CNA eLearning Series: Social Determinants of Health

Date of Review: May, 2019

This resource from the Canadian Nurses Association introduces the basic concepts of social determinants of health, equality, equity, social justice and oppression/discrimination with case based examples of they ways in which these might effect specific health care situations. It is a set of 4 online Modules developed for nurses/nursing students that can be completed in 1-4 sessions with an attached tool kit. This could be used as a very basic introduction to SDOH, without much effort although it has several aspects that are specific to the nursing profession and the nursing association in Canada which could not be easily extracted. — Barbara Bayldon, MD, NCEAS
