Date of Review: March, 2021

This resource developed by the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching at the University of Michigan includes a collection of resources which focus on inclusive teaching. Included resources explain key components of inclusive teaching as well as strategies to facilitate inclusive teaching and methods to create an inclusive learning environment. These include videos showing faculty implementing inclusive teaching strategies. Additionally, the webpage provides resources which explain approaches to address biases, address hate speech, and teaching about privilege in the classroom. In addition to the resources developed by the center, links to external resources are provided which address teaching strategies to engage students of diverse backgrounds, inclusivity strategies during course planning and syllabi development, and a reflection activity for faculty. The final set of resources offers guidelines to support students experiencing mental health challenges as well as approaches for student retention in STEM courses. This resource is appropriate for all faculty seeking to create more inclusive learning environments. —Ashti Doobay-Persaud, MD, NCEAS
