Global Health at Home: A Student-Run Community Health Initiative for Refugess

Date of Review: June, 2020

This resource describes the development of the Refugee Health Partners (RHP), a student organization committed to promoting refugee health in Philadelphia. It describes the local needs of the refugee population and the role of medical students in meeting those needs by specifically identifying specific activities they participate in, as well as the successes of collaboration with other like-minded organizations. Though an older resource, this report may be helpful when considering the potential role of medical students in community activities, and particularly ways/activities they can be involved in when working with the refugee population. It does not provide specific instruction for how the organization was developed, but it does contain multiple resources (both organizations to reference and articles, etc.) could help with brainstorming/starting place for those interested in creating similar types of programs. . –Elizabeth Painter, PhD, NCEAS
