This article discusses the psychological consequences that are associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and suggests strategies to combat them. Some of the strategies include: the importance of dissemination of information to the public in ways avoiding causing more fear and stress; stating explicitly why the public health measures that have been put into place are important to control the spread of COVID-19; and promoting social support via technology, telehealth, and social media.
