Commentary discussing the changes that occurred for the treatment of opioid abuse at the beginning of the pandemic. These changes aim at making the United States be up to date with the rest of the world in treating opioid abuse.  Some of the changes include permitting patients to receive longer doses of at-home medications, making treatment less onerous on the patient and allowing health care facilities to have more capacity for treatment.
