Utilizing Kern’s Six-Step Approach to Develop a Novel Curriculum for Enhancing Pediatric Resident Understanding of Health Care Costs
Date of Review: January, 2026
This resource, from MedEd PORTAL, discusses the development of a Novel Curriculum for Enhancing Pediatric Resident Understanding of Health Care Costs. It incorporates a variety of learning modalities including small group sessions and simulation experience. This paper is well written and it includes the instructional material utilized in the curriculum. I think it would be relatively easy for other institutions to implement a version of this curriculum into their clinical training. Getting a level of understanding of healthcare financing will certainly serve trainees well in the short and long term. The curriculum is not time intensive and is very feasible for busy residents to complete –Jane-Frances Aruma, MD, NCEAS
