Healthcare for Transgender and Gender Diverse People
Date of Review: January, 2022
This module consists of slides for learners to click through, and can be completed in as little as 15-20 minutes. In addition to presenting information on key concepts and terms pertaining to transgender and gender diverse (TGD) identities, and health disparities experienced by TGD people, it also presents information on medical and non-medical approaches to gender-affirming care, including: Gender-affirming hormone therapy; Surgical gender affirmation, and; Non-medical gender affirmation. The strengths of this resource include its brevity and accessibility, and presentation of practical information for health care professionals who desire to meet the needs (both mental and physical) of TGD people. It is likely not an especially helpful resource for those who are already well-versed in the care of TGD people, or those who are looking to acquire expertise in the care of particular TGD subpopulations. –Dave Liss, PhD, NCEAS
