Disparities in Cervical Cancer Among LHS+ Women: A Primer for Medical Students

Date of Review: October, 2025

This resource, from MedED PORTAL, presents a one-hour session that includes slides with facilitator guide that goes through the epidemiology, disparity factors and associated cultural bias related to LHS+ women and cervical cancer. It includes a video demonstrating patient-physician communication, case studies with discussion, and a pre/post test. The data is very thorough and the resource covers both clinical knowledge and patient interaction skills. It has been demonstrated to be effective in person and over zoom, and can make a difference in even just one session that should be easily implemented.–Bako Orionzi, MD, NCEAS
