Childhood Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: A Self-Directed Learning Module

Date of Review: January, 2019

This self-contained, interactive, on-line module, from MedEdPORTAL, was designed for medical students on a psychiatry rotation to help them understand childhood trauma, its effect on mental health, how to elicit a history of childhood trauma, and the management plan for children and adolescents who have PTSD. The module is very engaging with excellent interactions filmed with mom, child, and pediatrician and child psychiatrist. It is very interactive, which should help learners cement knowledge. It can be challenging to open the module, but it worked for me using Firefox- you may have to try multiple browsers. It’s long but can be started and stopped. —Heather Heiman, MD, NCEAS
