Problem-Based Learning Case of Unvaccinated Child With Measles Infection: Integrating Viral Pathogenesis, Immunology, and Vaccine Ethics

Date of Review: July, 2026

TThis resource introduces a PBL approach to teaching medical students how to approach pediatric patients and their families with vaccine hesitancy. The PBL sessions are in person requiring small group rooms, large group room (for debrief), whiteboards, pen, paper, and 2 students per group to have a computer. Each small group must also have a facilitator preferably with some subject expertise. There are several strengths of this curiculum: it is easily adoptable as all needed materials are included in the appendix. –Andrea McKinnond, PA-C, NCEAS
