Teaching Tolerance: Toolkit for “Segregation by Design”

Date of Review: December, 2020

This resource is a website that provides best practices for teaching students about the history of racial segregation using primary sources as a means to teach as well as the necessary tools to frame the issues. A diversity of resources are provided — for example primary policies and data sources or multimedia platforms. This website contains many resources and focuses on the value of teaching and learning whereby the student draws conclusions about the topic on their own. I think this is a terrific resource to use to teach preclinical students about the importance of history in defining the current contexts today. —Ashti Doobay Persaud, MD, NCEAS
