Persons With Disabilities as an Unrecognized Health Disparity Population

Date of Review: April, 2020

This article Reviews the evidence if disparities found in the population with disability that are not just related to disease in the social, health and access arenas. It makes the case for this population to hold disparity status by federal and state law and recommends research and policy steps to address the disparity. This resource provides both evidence for a session about the health outcomes and disparities of people with disabilities and could also be used as a seed for an advocacy project for learners. I am unclear whether this is free and accessible if not accessed through the CDC. —Barb Bayldon, MD, NCEAS
